About Us

Spirit and Truth Fellowship was started in 2010 by two computer programmers who identified themselves with a group of people either ignored or disdained by the church: sincere skeptics, scientists and intelectuals, and those who rightly and reasonably listen to them (the "pseudo intellectuals"). One of these men had deep roots in the church and Christian ministry but was at the same time a rational thinker and college-educated in a secular university. The other had spent many years viewing the Bible and the church through the eyes of a skeptic but was sincerely seeking God in his heart.

These friends knew they were on to something when one of them tried to google for variations of "nerd friendly church" and found the top results to be "God hates nerds" and "dog friendly church". The most favorable results were of sites who extended an invitation to "outcasts". Where in these results was the good news of the Gospel and the unconditional love of Jesus?

The course that God had laid out before these men became obvious: to build a church that is the home for thinkers, gamers, sci-fi fans, and like-minded people wondering if there is a God out there and desiring to find Him. This would not be a church with a universalist "anything goes" doctrine but would be solidly founded on the Word of God and treasuring the message of Christ that includes, "Judge not..." (Matthew 7:1-5).
